About Us

Hi! I’m Amber, an early childhood educator with over 12 years of experience. As a teacher at a Reggio Emilia–inspired school, I’ve seen firsthand how powerful process art can be for young children. I started Colorplay Artspace to bring that same joy, freedom, and creativity to families in the wider community.

Colorplay is a mobile art studio offering pop-up workshops throughout Reno. Rooted in the Reggio approach, our classes focus on process art—open-ended, playful, and pressure-free. Whether at a community event or birthday party, each session invites kids to explore freely, express boldly, and enjoy the simple joy of making.

No pressure. No perfection. Just messy, meaningful, magical play.

At Colorplay Artspace..

we believe every child is an artist. Our mission is to foster creativity and self-expression by providing a joyful, process-focused environment where children can explore, experiment, and grow—free from rules and full of imagination.

 FAQs

  • Colorplay Artspace is a mobile art studio offering process-based art classes for young children. We bring thoughtfully curated, open-ended art experiences directly to your location. Our approach is inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy—focusing on creativity, exploration, and self-expression rather than “perfect” finished products.

  • Process art means the experience of creating is more important than the final result. Children are encouraged to experiment with materials, make choices, and follow their own ideas. There’s no “right” way to do art here—just lots of color, texture, and imagination.

  • Art can get messy (in the best way!). We recommend play clothes that can get stained or splattered. Smocks are available, but creativity often finds its way onto sleeves.

  • Nope! We bring all the materials and set everything up for you. Just bring your child and a sense of adventure!

  • Yes! Parents and caregivers are always welcome to stay and observe. It’s a great opportunity to bond with your little one through creativity—or, if they’re feeling independent, you can give them space to create on their own. Either way, we support what works best for your family.

  • Yes! We can design custom art experiences for birthday parties, playgroups, or small events. Reach out and we’ll create something special for your little artists.

  • Totally okay! We know that every child engages in their own way and in their own time. Some may prefer to watch for a bit before jumping in—and that’s all part of the process. Each session includes multiple project invitations and a variety of materials, including sensory-friendly options, so there’s always something that might catch their interest. We gently invite, never force, and always honor the child’s pace and preferences.
